Are your kids up to the ATV challenge?
Getting involved with youth ATV racing
Are
your kids constantly looking for a new adventure and
it’s always up to you to plan for their next exciting
weekend? Why not try introducing them to youth ATV
racing? It’s a great family event because
watching the sport from the sidelines is almost as
exciting as watching your youngster handling the 4
wheeler around the tracks and over trails. An ATV outing
can easily become a family weekend where you can saddle
up on your own 4 wheeler and do some dusty trail riding
side by side while junior perfects his or her turns,
breaking maneuvers, and jumping agility.
Entering a local motocross race isn’t for the novice
young rider. Prior to Youth ATV racing you’ll first want
to make sure that your junior racer has logged plenty of
dust on his quad riding chaps and is already trail
savvy. When readying a high-mile racer and his or her
machine for their first racing event, you’ll want to
first do a little preparation work on both the machine
and the driver. Even very young avid quadsters who’ve
been on 4 wheels for more than a year or at least 20 to
50 percent of their lives if 12 or under need to
exercise caution when breaking into youth ATV racing.
Often the younger the rider, the more daredevil racer
they also might be. As kids age they begin to exercise a
bit more caution, and even become more methodical and
careful in their 4 wheeling maneuvers. But no matter
what their age, they will require their own specialized
guidance in their respective ATV racing endeavors.
Advanced Preparation Key for Safe Youth ATV Racing
Before
you sign up for your first local youth ATV racing
challenge, be sure that your young rider has had plenty
of opportunity to practice in a race-type setting – not
on the local trails or in the back yard but at an actual
ATV race track. Many race tracks will offer open
practice times so that junior can get the feel of what
race day will be all about. Practicing at an actual
motocross track will provide not only the excitement and
track layout of an actual race day, but you’ll be able
to watch, coach and give the thumbs up from the
sidelines to build their self-assurance to do the real
thing. With practice at an actual track, gradually
speed, agility and confidence will develop.

your Quad Ahead to your next Youth ATV Racing Challenge
Unless
as a parent you’re already involved in the sport of
adult motorcycle racing, you’re probably not too
familiar with the in’s and out’s of Youth ATV Racing and
finding some organized competition may take some doing.
One good place to start is your local ATV or motorcycle
dealerships. Another is the All Terrain Vehicle
Association (ATVA), whose online site is at www.atvaonline.com. Another great source is www.ATV4KIDS.com. ATV4KIDS.com is a great place to
find out about youth ATV accessories, on-line forums
where you can ask other kids the same age about the
sport, and locations for the next Youth ATV Racing
challenge in your state. Once you’ve selected your
next Youth ATV Racing destination, next select an expert
like Haul Bikes. Haul Bikes is an expert at loading and
hauling just one or multiple 4-wheelers! And unlike most
shipping companies, Haul Bikes doesn’t charge extra
to ship your standard-sized ATV. Haul Bikes only
charges an extra fee of $195 for ATVs that don’t fit a
standard 4’ x 9’ space on their shipping truck - wider
than 48” and/or longer than 108”.
