Vacation in Milwaukee this Summer
Milwaukee Mile Speedway, Harley-Davidson museum and the 3rd annual Burn Camp rally to name just a few attractions to visit
Looking for an inexpensive vacation alternative this summer due to gas prices continuing to climb? Why not try a motorcycle road trip. On average, motorcycles can get between 40 and 75 miles per gallon, and that’s one certain way to beat the high costs of fuel this summer. So what do you do with all that extra change in your pocket? Why not point your bike toward a summer motorcycle rally with a great cause.
Annual “Ride for the Burn Camp”
One summertime motorcycle rally that will definitely make for more than a worthy ride is the 3rd Annual “Ride for the Burn Camp” on July 12. Kicking off at the new Wisconsin Harley – Davidson dealership in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, you can join Harley-Davidson and other cycle enthusiasts for a great ride while helping to support the Wisconsin Alliance for Fire and Fire & Iron’s Safety’s Burn Camp for Injured Youth.
Set up like a poker run (except there are no stamps to collect and no hands dealt) the route meanders through the beautiful Kettle Moraine and lake country of southeastern Wisconsin, with a stop in the picturesque farming community of Iron Ride, on to the historic lake and pottery community of Cambridge, and a circle through the Kettle Moraine State Forest into in Eagle’s horse country. Finally motor on for your final stop at the New Berlin Ale House Sports Bar for more camaraderie topped off by great food and entertainment. Each rider receives three raffle tickets eligible for prizes at the end of the 125-mile ride. Fire & Iron is a club of active and retired firefighters and others associated with fire service. You can get more information about this charitable bike rally by visiting www.fireandiron17.com.
Now Opening: The Harley-Davidson® Museum
What could be more memorable for a motorcycle enthusiast than extending your vacation to fit in a visit to the birthplace of Harley-Davidson® –Milwaukee. With summer festivities leading up to the grand opening of the Harley-Davidson Museum, you’ll find out why Milwaukee is considered a mecca for “hog” riders everywhere.
During the summer months you’ll find it exceptionally easy to find something to do in this great city on a great lake. Along with the City of Festivals’ many cultural events held alongside Lake Michigan's shoreline, you can travel a short distance inland and take in the world-famous Milwaukee Mile Speedway where the annual Milwaukee Rally is held late August.
