Can I Ship My Jet Ski? An Alternative to Jet Ski Rentals on Vacation
 For vacationers serious about jet skiing, renting a machine when on vacation can be a disappointing experience. Designed to take the abuse of hundreds of rides, machines available for rent at many vacation destinations may have a lot to be desired. Jet ski rentals are often slow, beat up and expensive…definitely not what someone accustomed to a high-end machine prefers. There is an alternative, used by both recreational and professional jet skiers: shipping your jet ski. Jet skis can be shipped to popular winter destinations for jet ski vacations and competitions, including Lake Havasu, Arizona, Salt Springs Reservoir in California, and the Ponce de Leon inlet just south of Daytona Beach in Florida.
If you want to ship your jet skis, you’ll want to make sure you’re working with a company who knows what they’re doing. Since a jet ski doesn’t have wheels, it will need to be shipped on its trailer. When you’re choosing a shipper, beware of discount shipping companies or outfits that claim to “ship anything.” These companies may ask you to crate, palletize and drain all the fluids from your machine. The jet ski may get there in good shape, but after all the hassle, it may have be easier just to rent one on arrival.
Shipping charges can also vary from company to company. Many times jet skis can be charged for double the shipping space. Other companies just charge an “oversize” fee if a little extra space is needed to accommodate the trailer.
